Contraindications For Red Light Therapy
Red & NIR Light Full Body Panel Contraindications
*Please be aware that you should always consult with your physician prior to use of the red light therapy panel if you believe that you are sensitive to light. This is called photosensitivity and it may cause a burn or rash in those who are sensitive. If you have this problem when exposed to the sun, then it is very possible that you could also experience this with red light therapy so always consult with your physician prior to use.
*Please be aware that some cold and allergy medications, pain medications, tricyclic antidepressants, antihistamines, antifungal medications (griseofulvin), quinine (and other anti-malarial drugs), acne medications, methotrexate, sulfonylurea drugs for diabetes, hydrochlorothiazide, amiodarone, and medications used to treat infection can cause light sensitivity. If you are currently taking these or any prescription medication for that matter, please check with your physician or cease red light therapy for the time being until the prescription of the medication is done.
*Please consult with your physician prior to using red light therapy if you are pregnant, have any suspicious or cancerous lesions, have a pacemaker and/or defibrillator, or have recently had a steroid injection or use topical steroids.
*If you experience any discomfort or have a concern about any reaction to the light, please stop using immediately. The warming up feeling is normal when in use; that is the infrared light reaching your cells, creating energy and thus, heat within the body.
*Children under the age of 18 may not use the device without parental consent and without parental supervision. Infants are prohibited from using the red light therapy panel.
*Sleeping during a session is prohibited due to the maximum exposure limit of ten minutes per side and twenty minutes total. If you happen to fall asleep and the staff hears the timer going off for a long period of time, then they will knock on the door to make sure that everything is okay.
*Please be advised to NOT exceed twenty minutes of use in one therapy session.
*Please do NOT use if you have open or fresh wounds.
*Please do NOT use if you have an active infection of any kind, especially MRSA or any other highly toxin-releasing dis-ease.
*Please do NOT use in combination with liniments, salves, ointments, or balms that contain heat producing ingredients. A skin burn could result in doing so. It is best to leave the skin bare without make-up as well so that the light can better penetrate the skin.
*Please know that you are proceeding at your own risk and have discussed any concerns with your doctor and have fully disclosed all medical history to the staff of Beyond Wellness, LLC; thus, releasing any liability from Beyond Wellness, LLC for any and all reactions or damages that may or may not be accrued as a result of using this therapy.
Red Light Cold Laser & Wand Contraindications
* Most of the same contraindications as the panel. However, the cold laser wands can only be used a maximum of 3 minutes in one area as the light is almost directly against or against the skin, depending upon the area and sensitivity.
Red Light Meridian Therapy Contraindications
*The same contraindications as the other two types of red light therapy services that we offer.
