Autophagy & Intermittent Fasting

October 8th, 2020

Have you heard of autophagy? How about intermittent fasting? If not, it may be something to look into for your benefit, if it feels in alignment for you.

Autophagy is responsible for the lysosome-mediated degradation, or breaking down, of damaged proteins and organelles within the cell. It is a process of repairing cellular damage and being able to heal on its own without medical intervention. It is vitally important for the homeostasis and functioning of one's cells and thus, body.

Intermittent fasting is one way to get the body into a state or phase of autophagy. Intermittent fasting is exactly like it sounds...intermittently fasting for periods of time. I personally do a 16ish hour window of fasting and an 8-hour span of eating...mostly, only eating two meals per day. Mixing this with eating a paleo diet has allowed me to lose 60 pounds.

You can find more information about the benefits of autophagy here -

Here is a video on intermittent fasting and autophagy too -

There are tons of other videos and information regarding this topic on the web too so feel free to research all about it before beginning it and be sure to consult with a physician if you are currently experiencing health issues.
